Cryogenic 316L Full Complement Bearings with PTFE Cage and Seals

316 stainless has a very wide temperature range. Open full complement 316 grade bearings can handle minus 200°C to 500°C, although load capacity drops away sharply at the extremes.

For cryogenic duty, the answer is full complement 316L or bearings with 100 per cent PTFE cages and seals. PTFE holds up well down to minus 190°C. Speeds and loads must be kept extremely low.

The standard PE cages and seals are not suitable below minus 40°C, so specify carefully. At the hot end, PEEK or PTFE cages and seals take these bearings up to 250°C.
