Not necessarily. But you need to show how you check them.

SSIP assessors will ask how you select and monitor subcontractors. Requiring an SSIP certificate is one simple way to do that. The alternative is your own assessment questionnaire covering their policy, insurance, risk assessments and training.

Then you need to show you keep an eye on them once they are on site, typically through performance reviews and site inspections.
