Food and beverage bearings face washdowns, steam cleaning, contamination, heat and corrosive fluids, and they still have to meet strict hygiene rules.
SMB Bearings supplies 440 grade stainless bearings with non-toxic lubricants approved to NSF H1 or H2, including greases that resist water, cleaning chemicals and regular steam cleaning. Metal shields or rubber seals are standard.
For hot jobs like bakery ovens, Viton seals and food approved high temperature grease are available on many sizes, and stainless bearings can be relubricated for up to 300°C.
Too corrosive for 440? Options include full ceramic, 316 stainless and food grade plastic bearings in acetal, polypropylene or PEEK.
