The bottom hook option lets a ramp locate into a guide rail fitted along the back of the trailer. The ramp can then be slid to suit the track or wheel width of each machine, and it stays hooked in while loading.
This is a practical setup for plant hire and contractors who move a mix of machines. A narrow mini digger and a wider dumper can both be loaded from the same trailer without swapping ramps or guessing where the wheels will land.
The hook system really comes into its own on trailers that carry a mix of plant. Instead of compromising with ramps set at one fixed spacing, the driver slides each ramp to match the machine. It takes a few seconds and gives a much better result.
The hook is fitted to aluminium ramps in the VFR range, built for tyred, solid wheeled and tracked machinery. Guide rail is available in lengths of 2600mm, in black or galvanised steel.
Combine the bottom hook with the width that suits your fleet, 390mm or 520mm, and you have a flexible loading system that stays secure. Standard lengths are on the product pages, and other sizes can be made.
Ramp angle has a big effect on how a machine behaves. A steep ramp can cause machines to ground out at the top, lose traction or tip abruptly. A longer ramp lowers the angle and makes loading smoother and more controlled.
Three connection types are available. A lip with steel pin and movable safety device rests on the deck edge. A hinge fitting fixes the ramp to the trailer. A bottom hook drops into a guide rail so the ramp can slide sideways. Each suits a different trailer and way of working.
