Steel tracks are hard on everything they touch. A ramp that is fine for rubber tyres can be chewed up quickly by steel grousers. Our low loader ramps are built to take steel tracked machinery as standard, not as an afterthought.
The special aluminium construction gives a tough running surface that copes with the bite of steel tracks. It is strong enough for the job and light enough that your driver is not wrestling with it at the end of a long day.
Excavator operators know the feeling of the machine tipping forward over the top of the ramp. A secure, well sized ramp keeps that moment controlled. Longer ramps reduce the angle, which helps machines with low counterweights or long undercarriages crest the top without grounding.
When an excavator crests the top of a ramp, the weight shifts sharply. That is where a secure connection earns its keep. The lip fitting with steel pin and movable safety device, the hinge fitting and the bottom hook into a guide rail all keep the ramp located against the trailer.
For wider steel tracks, the 520mm four profile ramp gives a more generous footprint. Standard lengths and capacities are set out on the VFR range pages, and if your excavator and trailer combination needs something different, other sizes can be made.
Standard ramp sizes and capacities are shown in the tables on each VFR product page. If none of them suits your trailer or machine, other sizes are available on request, so you are not forced into a compromise.
Ramp angle has a big effect on how a machine behaves. A steep ramp can cause machines to ground out at the top, lose traction or tip abruptly. A longer ramp lowers the angle and makes loading smoother and more controlled.
