Ramp length is one of the most important decisions when buying low loader ramps. Get it wrong and the angle is too steep, machines ground out at the top, or traction becomes a problem.
Start with deck height. Measure from the ground to the top of the deck at the point where the ramp will sit. The higher the deck, the longer the ramp you will need to keep a comfortable angle.
It is also worth thinking about where you load. Soft ground can lower the foot of the ramp and change the angle. If you often load on uneven or unmade ground, a slightly longer ramp gives some margin.
Then think about the machine. Low ground clearance, long wheelbases and heavy front ends all favour a gentler slope. Tracked machines can often climb steeper than wheeled ones, but there are limits.
Our VFR range comes in standard lengths listed on each product page, and other sizes can be made. Share your deck height and the machines you load, and we can recommend a length that works.
The range is designed for machines equipped with pneumatic tyres, solid wheels and rubber or steel tracks. That covers the vast majority of plant that travels on low loaders and flatbeds, from compact kit up to heavier machines.
Plant comes in many shapes. Long, low machines need gentle angles. Heavy machines need capacity. Wide tracked machines need width. The VFR range gives you the options to cover each of these needs.
