Weekend PASMA Courses

This month we have PASMA Towers For Users courses running on the 10th and 24th, both will be including eLearning for the theory section and with the practical sessions scheduled to start at 2pm.

IPAF Practical Tests - What to expect

Do you ever wonder when you book on to an IPAF Operator course what testing you will have to do?

If you have never undertaken an IPAF course before, or even used a MEWP before, then you might have some apprehension about what to expect when attending a course.

We at RSC Training understand that not everyone is going to be comfortable when doing any kind of test, so we have been working away in the background to come up with a way for delegates to get a preview of the practical tests they can expect to go through, prior to attending the course.

With the help of Graham Baker Photography, we have created two videos to show the practical test courses for the 3a Mobile Vertical (Scissor Lift) and the 3b Mobile Boom (Cherry Picker).

These videos are the first of their kind to show the entire test courses, both visually and with text and commentary, that we would take you through when attending an IPAF Operator course at our Training Centre in Thamesmead, London.

These videos are also part of the launch of our new YouTube channel and will be available to view from there ongoing by anyone who might be attending one of our courses.

Trouble finding us?

We sometimes receive feedback from delegates who have trouble locating our Training Centre in Thamesmead, London.

We have done a lot of work in the background to try and help with this, from getting our business located on Google Maps, to utilising the What Three Words app (its HATCH REGION READER).

Two new direction videos are also included in the launch of our new YouTube channel and will be available to view from there ongoing by anyone who might be attending one of our courses and needs helps with directions. The videos show the walking directions to and from Plumstead Train Station.

Public Speaking - Ladder Association AMM & Conference

Recently, members of the RSC Training team were in attendance at the Ladder Association AMM & Conference, held at the Ardencote Hotel in Warwickshire, to hear updates from the Association and to hear from speakers on a range of different topics.

Our Director Richard was asked to speak briefly on our participation in last years Employee Race to Zero Competition, which was his first time being asked to speak at one of these events.

Richard commented: "I was very apprehensive about speaking when they first asked me and very nearly said no! Although as an Instructor I'm used to talking in front of people, this was completely different and stepping outside of my comfort zone for sure. Thankfully I got through it and hopefully it didn't come across as bad as it seemed like at the time!"

Details about our participation in the Employee Race to Zero Competition can be found here.

No Falls Week 12-16 May 2025

No Falls Week, the week long safety campaign run by the No Falls Foundation, is returning for its second year on 12-16 May 2025.

This year, the charity are also holding their first No Falls Conference on Thursday 15th May, with a host of different industry experts lined up to speak.

The event will take place at the Radisson Blu Hotel (East Midlands Airport) and is expected to attract safety professionals from all sectors, and RSC Training will be attending. The day will end with the return of the No Falls Charity Ball, which has been held previously as a one off event, to help raise awareness and funds to support safer working at height.

Look out for information going out across social media and other online platforms throughout the week.

Congratulations Babette

As a lovely ending to this month's newsletter, we're passing on our congratulations to our HR Consultant Babette on her successful completion of the London Marathon this weekend, completing a double after also running in the Paris Marathon two weeks before!

Babette is a keen runner and has been training hard for months for the events, cutting out drinking and showing a great determination to get over the line at both events.

Babette was running London on behalf of Taxi Charity For Military Veterans, which really added to the experience for her.

Hopefully she can raise a glass to her achievements now she's done it before getting back into training to do it all again next year!
