What is BS EN 1090 EXC3 and why does it matter?

BS EN 1090 is the standard covering the fabrication of structural steel and aluminium. Structural components placed on the market must be CE or UKCA marked, and only a certified fabricator can do that.

Execution classes run from EXC1 to EXC4, with higher classes needed for more demanding structures. PRV is certified to EXC3, which covers the vast majority of building, industrial and infrastructure steelwork. Using an uncertified fabricator can leave liability sitting with the client or main contractor, so it's worth checking before you order.

PRV supplies defence, switchgear, rail, automotive, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, food processing, aerospace, actuation, power generation, mechanical handling and valve customers. Batch size runs from a single prototype to full production, in materials from mild steel to titanium and nickel alloys.
