Progression tooling performs several operations as strip moves through the tool, making it ideal for high volume pressed parts. PRV designs, builds and tests progression tools. Established in 1986, PRV Engineering operates from a 54,000 sq ft precision engineering facility in Pontypool, South Wales.
PRV started life making tamper proof lid assemblies for the metal packaging industry, and the toolroom skills from those days never left. Today the toolmakers build and test simple and multi tool punch and press sets, from basic blanking tools to complex progression tooling, plus forming tools, die sets and tool spares. Existing tooling is refurbished, maintained on a routine schedule or repaired in an emergency, with a collection and delivery service to keep downtime to a minimum.
Good press tooling pays back many times over in consistent parts and low scrap. Poorly made or neglected tools cause burrs, split pressings and unplanned stoppages. Working with a toolmaker who can build new, refurbish old and respond quickly in a breakdown keeps your press shop productive. PRV covers all three.
PRV serves a broad spread of industries including defence, medium to high voltage switchgear, rail, high performance automotive, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, food processing, aerospace, actuation, power generation, mechanical handling and valves. Whatever the sector, the standard is the same.
Whether you need a single prototype or thousands of repeat parts, the work is planned to suit. Mild steel, stainless, aluminium, copper, Monel, Inconel, Hastelloy and titanium are all machined regularly, and a stocking service lets customers cut their own inventory and call off as needed.
Getting started is straightforward. Share your drawing or sample, tell the team your quantities and deadline, and PRV will come back with a quote and any suggestions to save cost. From there the work is managed in-house through to final inspection and delivery.
Quality sits at the top of the agenda, with a zero tolerance policy on rejects. Work is completed under BS EN ISO 9001:2015 and BS EN 1090 EXC3, and PRV also holds ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. With every major process in-house, problems are caught early and fixed fast.
