Dielectric strength testing checks insulating coatings will withstand the required voltage. PRV tests dielectric strength and insulative properties in-house. PRV Engineering has been trading from Pontypool, South Wales since 1986 and now runs a well equipped 54,000 sq ft facility.
The finishing department includes a 6 metre shot blast room, various shot blast cabinets, a powder coating booth, a wet paint spray room and a 2.2 metre cubic high bake oven. Specialist insulative and conductive coatings are applied by electrostatic spray, fluid bath or heat shrink. Finishes are tested in-house for gloss level, coating thickness, adhesion, porosity, colour shade, dielectric strength and insulative or conductive properties.
A finish is the first thing a customer sees and the first thing to fail if it's done badly. Surface preparation, film thickness and cure all matter. Having blasting, painting, powder coating and testing under one roof means every stage is controlled and parts don't get damaged moving between suppliers.
Medium and high voltage switchgear manufacturers and electrical maintenance contractors need parts that conduct properly, fit first time and turn up when promised. PRV understands low, medium, high and extra high voltage plant, and can supply replacement parts to order at a cost the original manufacturers struggle to match.
PRV works from customer drawings, specifications or OEM samples. Mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, copper and exotic alloys are all handled, in quantities from one to full production, with call off stock available to keep your shelves lean.
The process is simple. Send a drawing, CAD model, specification or sample. PRV reviews it, flags any manufacturing concerns and quotes promptly. Once ordered, the job is planned through the relevant departments, inspected against your requirements and dispatched with the paperwork you need.
One supplier, one order, one point of contact. That is the PRV promise. Every major process from cutting to final finish is done in Pontypool under ISO 9001:2015, with BS EN 1090 EXC3, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 alongside. A continuous improvement and design for manufacture mindset means customers often end up with a better part at a lower cost.
