Deep hole drilling for oil and gas produces bores in collars, bodies and tools. PRV drills hard, tough alloys accurately for oilfield equipment. PRV Engineering has been trading from Pontypool, South Wales since 1986 and now runs a well equipped 54,000 sq ft facility.
PRV runs 10 deep hole drilling machines with a full stock of gun drills, ejector drills and counterboring heads. On non-cylindrical components, holes from 5mm to 100mm diameter can be drilled in any position at up to 3000mm centres, with workpieces up to 4 tonnes. On cylindrical parts the range is 5mm to 200mm diameter at up to 5000mm long, again up to 4 tonnes. On-site drilling is available up to 75mm diameter and 3000mm deep. Hole position, diametric tolerance, straightness and surface finish are all held tight.
Deep hole drilling is a specialist skill. Standard twist drills wander, overheat and break as holes get deeper. Gun drills and ejector drills use high pressure coolant to clear chips and keep the hole straight over depths many times the diameter. Choosing a specialist with the right tooling and experience saves scrapped parts, which on expensive forgings or bars is money well saved.
Oil and gas equipment works in harsh, high pressure environments where failure is not an option. PRV machines and fabricates in duplex, stainless, Monel, Inconel and Hastelloy, producing parts that meet the tight specifications the sector expects.
Whether you need a single prototype or thousands of repeat parts, the work is planned to suit. Mild steel, stainless, aluminium, copper, Monel, Inconel, Hastelloy and titanium are all machined regularly, and a stocking service lets customers cut their own inventory and call off as needed.
Getting started is straightforward. Share your drawing or sample, tell the team your quantities and deadline, and PRV will come back with a quote and any suggestions to save cost. From there the work is managed in-house through to final inspection and delivery.
PRV calls its approach One Answer, Many Solutions. Machining, waterjet cutting, deep hole drilling, fabrication, painting, powder coating, plating, installation and maintenance all sit under one roof, so customers deal with one company and raise one purchase order. Quality is controlled to BS EN ISO 9001:2015, BS EN 1090 EXC3, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
