Coating thickness and adhesion testing proves a finish meets specification. PRV tests gloss, thickness, adhesion, porosity and colour in-house. From its 54,000 sq ft site in Pontypool, South Wales, PRV Engineering has been machining, fabricating and finishing for UK industry since 1986.
The finishing department includes a 6 metre shot blast room, various shot blast cabinets, a powder coating booth, a wet paint spray room and a 2.2 metre cubic high bake oven. Specialist insulative and conductive coatings are applied by electrostatic spray, fluid bath or heat shrink. Finishes are tested in-house for gloss level, coating thickness, adhesion, porosity, colour shade, dielectric strength and insulative or conductive properties.
A finish is the first thing a customer sees and the first thing to fail if it's done badly. Surface preparation, film thickness and cure all matter. Having blasting, painting, powder coating and testing under one roof means every stage is controlled and parts don't get damaged moving between suppliers.

Batch size is not a problem. One-offs, pre-production runs and high volume schedules all go through the same controlled process. Materials cover the full spread from mild steel to titanium and nickel alloys, and Kanban, VMI, consignment and JIT supply can be set up for repeat lines.
