Chrome plating gives a hard, wear resistant and attractive finish. It's used on rods, rollers and decorative parts. Established in 1986, PRV Engineering operates from a 54,000 sq ft precision engineering facility in Pontypool, South Wales.
PRV invested in its own silver and tin plating facility to take firmer control of quality, price and lead time. The wider range of finishes available includes zinc and passivation (rack and barrel), chrome, chemical black, phosphate, anodise (colour and hard), tin, silver, bright nickel, satin nickel, electroless nickel, bright copper, Alocrom 1000 and Alocrom 1200 chromate conversion, and metal polishing. The company runs a zero tolerance policy on rejects, and finishing is the last place anyone wants a problem.
Plating protects, conducts or decorates, and choosing the right finish depends on the job. Silver for lowest contact resistance, tin for cost effective solderable protection, zinc for steel corrosion resistance, anodise for aluminium wear. PRV can advise on the right finish and handle plating as part of a complete manufactured part.
Actuation systems depend on accurate bores, true shafts and smooth surfaces. PRV machines, deep hole drills and finishes actuator components, cylinders and rams for hydraulic, pneumatic and electric actuation customers.
Batch size is not a problem. One-offs, pre-production runs and high volume schedules all go through the same controlled process. Materials cover the full spread from mild steel to titanium and nickel alloys, and Kanban, VMI, consignment and JIT supply can be set up for repeat lines.
PRV keeps things simple for buyers. One quote covers every process, one purchase order covers the whole job, and one team is accountable for the result. Material certificates, inspection reports and conformity paperwork are supplied as required.
One supplier, one order, one point of contact. That is the PRV promise. Every major process from cutting to final finish is done in Pontypool under ISO 9001:2015, with BS EN 1090 EXC3, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 alongside. A continuous improvement and design for manufacture mindset means customers often end up with a better part at a lower cost.
