Braids with consolidated ends give a flexible electrical link with solid termination. PRV produces braided connections for switchgear and rail applications. From its 54,000 sq ft site in Pontypool, South Wales, PRV Engineering has been machining, fabricating and finishing for UK industry since 1986.
PRV manufactures busbars, conductors, copper contacts and connections in C101 electrical grade copper and 6101 T6 electrical grade aluminium. Capability covers CAD file integration with CNC manufacture, complex manipulated copper shapes, multiple laminations with consolidated soldered ends, flat or bridged bars, forged and cast connections, punching, folding and pressing. Silver and tin plating are done in-house, along with specialist resistive and conductive coatings and heat shrink sleeving, all backed by quick response times.
Busbar quality comes down to material grade, accurate forming, clean joints and the right finish. Cheap bars with poor plating or loose tolerances cause hot spots, resistance losses and failures. Buying from a manufacturer that controls cutting, forming, plating, coating and sleeving under one roof gives you consistency, traceability and much better lead times.
Medium and high voltage switchgear manufacturers and electrical maintenance contractors need parts that conduct properly, fit first time and turn up when promised. PRV understands low, medium, high and extra high voltage plant, and can supply replacement parts to order at a cost the original manufacturers struggle to match.
Batch size is not a problem. One-offs, pre-production runs and high volume schedules all go through the same controlled process. Materials cover the full spread from mild steel to titanium and nickel alloys, and Kanban, VMI, consignment and JIT supply can be set up for repeat lines.
PRV keeps things simple for buyers. One quote covers every process, one purchase order covers the whole job, and one team is accountable for the result. Material certificates, inspection reports and conformity paperwork are supplied as required.
Being a true one stop shop is the big advantage. A part can be cut, machined, welded, plated and painted without ever leaving the site, which cuts lead times, removes supplier handovers and keeps quality in one pair of hands. Accreditations include BS EN ISO 9001:2015, BS EN 1090 EXC3, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, Constructionline and Acclaim SSIP.
