Valco Melton has unveiled the new Kube Zero, a melt-on-demand system designed to set a new benchmark in the packaging industry. With a strong focus on productivity, efficiency, and workplace safety, the Kube Zero aims to deliver benefits that directly impact manufacturers’ performance.
"By listening to the market’s needs, we have developed a melt-on-demand solution that improves productivity, simplifies maintenance, and increases operator safety—while setting a new benchmark with its 13 kg per hour melt rate," explains Tom Curlewis, Industrial Designer at Valco Melton.
Furthermore with 10 independent outlets, it can feed multiple applicators with no risk of supply issues. Designed for automated and demanding environments, melt-on-demand technology melts only the adhesive that is required. By using an automated feeding system, the adhesive is prevented from carbonizing due to excessive time in the tank, ensuring it retains all its properties at all times. This system also reduces the need for operator intervention, boosting productivity through automated refilling by preventing the unit from running empty due to oversight or adhesive pellets being spilled on the floor.
Startup time is a decisive factor for any melter: until the adhesive reaches the correct temperature and viscosity, the production line cannot begin. Every minute of heating means a minute of downtime. The Kube Zero has reduced start-up time by 65%, directly increasing line productivity.
An important feature is the new monoblock design, which integrates the tank, pump, and manifold into a single compact structure. Made from solid anodized aluminum and finished with a anti-adherent coating, it ensures uniform heat distribution. Valco Melton’s Engineering team has developed this new design that maximizes melting efficiency, optimizes space, and minimizes the risk of leaks. The company's capability to manufacture parts in-house fosters agility and innovation, creating synergies and reducing the impact from supply chain alterations. “That’s why the new Kube Zero not only enhances productivity but also remains an affordable solution for our customers,” confirms Gonzalo Marco, European General Manager.
Ease of maintenance has been a key driver in the development of the Kube Zero. Its new design allows quick access to components from the front of the unit, with no joints or parts requiring manipulation, reducing maintenance times and simplifying tasks.
In terms of safety, the Kube Zero incorporates a new insulation material that keeps external surfaces below 45°C, lowering the risk of burns while improving energy efficiency. Unlike conventional insulation, these materials do not degrade over time, ensuring long-lasting protection. The unit also features a new HEPA filter to capture oil vapors and further improve workplace safety.
With its combination of efficiency, reliability, and safety, the Kube Zero represents a significant step forward in adhesive application technology. Designed for those who demand more from their melter, it helps manufacturers produce more with fewer complications and less downtime.
