Rubb celebrates International Women’s Day 2020
06/03/2020

Rubb is proud to celebrate International Women’s Day with our all-female PVC department.

International Women’s Day falls on March 8th, and is a global day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women all around the world. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.

In an industry where work forces often skew towards male majorities, Rubb is proud to boast an all-female PVC team.

Our all-female PVC production team works hard to ensure all of Rubb’s fabric is thoroughly inspected. They then prepare the material specifically for each of Rubb’s various building designs.

The PVC sections are passed to the welding team, where the fabric is fusion welded together to create the required sections. Project supervisors check welds to ensure optimum quality.

Once complete, the PVC sheets are correctly folded and packed to project specific configurations, this both protects the sheets and speeds up the installation process.

Our PVC Production Manager, Melanie Brewis, began working for Rubb in 1990 at the age of sixteen and has progressed from the role of Production Operator to PVC Production Supervisor.

Mel swiftly progressed to become Deputy Supervisor in January 1994 and Supervisor by September of the same year. She has also been involved in many aspects of PVC R&D, from the development of Rubb Military Buildings to insulated Thermohall® cladding technology.

“I have enjoyed working on some of the big orders for the Ministry of Defence and NATO. It was good to work on the 52 military RES buildings for the UK MoD in 2003/2004,” she added. “The modernisation of technology has helped us adapt and improve our production procedures.”

Our PVC production team’s hard work is an integral part of Rubb’s commitment to quality, and International Women’s Day is a fitting day to give them the recognition they deserve.
