North West Terminal: Rubb supports next step in port expansion

North West Terminal in Møre og Romsdal, Norway, has been a trusted customer of Rubb for many years. To date, Rubb has delivered a total of five fabric buildings to the terminal. The latest project sees two of the existing structures extended, giving North West Terminal valuable space while minimising downtime and investment risk.

As operational requirements evolve, North West Terminal required more indoor production space. Operating in a coast known for harsh and challenging conditions, durability and reliability were key requirements.

For this round of expansion, two production buildings were extended by a combined total of 90m, providing increased floor space without the need for new foundations or standalone buildings.

Modular solution

“It’s a major benefit that we can develop the facilities in stages. This allows us to meet increased demand without committing to a large investment all at once,” says Bjørn Roald Langnes, Managing Director of North West Terminal.

One of the key advantages of Rubb buildings is their modular design.

They can be extendedrelocatedupgraded or adapted as operational requirements change.

Rubb structures are not limited to just extensions. Existing buildings can also be upgraded with Thermohall® insulationimproved lightingadditional access points, and other functional improvements.

“It’s even possible to connect two existing buildings into a single structure. When working with modular solutions as flexible as Rubb, there are very few limitations,” says Øyvind Kristiansen, Sales Manager at Rubb Norway.

When our needs change, we require flexible solutions like this. Being able to increase capacity by extending two existing buildings rather than building new ones saves both time and cost for our operation.

Trusted partner

Øyvind highlights that delivering a total of five buildings to the same customer over time is a clear indication of long-term value.

“North West Terminal once again choosing Rubb is something we see as a vote of confidence in both our product quality and the long-term partnership we have built. We look forward to continuing to deliver solutions that quite literally give our customers room to grow.”

According to Bjørn, the decision is straightforward.

“We have used Rubb for so long because they deliver every single time. Solid buildings, fast delivery, and solution-oriented people make them an easy choice for us. Here in Møre og Romsdal, we experience demanding weather conditions. Our Rubb buildings remain stable even in strong winds, which speaks volumes about their quality,” Bjørn concludes.
