Munster Polymers Achieves Outstanding Results with Rotajet RJ-Turbo Dryer Installation

Rotajet Systems, we are proud to announce the successful installation and commissioning of a Rotajet RJ-Turbo Dryer — complete with a twin-screw discharge system — at Munster Polymers Ltd, a leading Irish plastics recycler based in Waterfall, Co. Cork.

 

About Munster Polymers

Founded in 2010, Munster Polymers is an established recycler of post-industrial and post-consumer plastics, specialising in HDPE and LDPE materials such as pipes, barrels, bottles, and drums. The company is committed to sustainability and circular economy principles, producing high-quality recycled pellets that go back into manufacturing across multiple sectors.

As Munster Polymers continued to expand its recycling capacity, they identified the need for a high-performance drying solution that could handle large volumes of HDPE flake efficiently while maintaining consistent moisture levels for downstream pelletising.

The Rotajet Solution

To meet this challenge, Munster Polymers selected the Rotajet RJ-Turbo Dryer, a high-speed friction dryer designed specifically for removing moisture from plastic flakes and regrind. This particular unit was supplied with a twin-screw discharge, ensuring a smooth and continuous outfeed into the customer’s pelletising line.

The RJ-Turbo Dryer is part of Rotajet’s range of plastic washing and drying systems (plasticwashing.co.uk), engineered to deliver fast, efficient, and reliable drying performance for materials including HDPE, PP, and PET. The system’s design maximises centrifugal force to expel surface moisture, resulting in dry, free-flowing flake with minimal energy consumption.

Installation and Commissioning

Our engineering team worked closely with Munster Polymers throughout every stage of the project — from system design and specification to on-site installation and commissioning. The dryer was delivered, positioned, and integrated seamlessly into the existing HDPE washing line. During commissioning, Rotajet engineers calibrated the system to match the specific material characteristics of Munster’s HDPE flake, ensuring optimal drying efficiency and discharge performance.

Training sessions were also conducted with Munster’s operations team, covering start-up procedures, maintenance checks, and system monitoring to ensure long-term reliability and maximum uptime.

Outstanding Performance

Since commissioning, the RJ-Turbo Dryer has been running flawlessly and without any downtime, continuously producing clean, dry HDPE flake ready for pelletising. The twin-screw discharge has improved process flow, preventing blockages and maintaining a steady material feed.

Munster Polymers has reported excellent drying results and a significant improvement in the consistency and quality of their finished recycled product. The machine’s robust build and simple maintenance have allowed their production to run smoothly, even under demanding conditions.
