Advanced Grinding Solution for Carbide: Diamond Tooling & Centreless Grinding | RK International
02/04/2026
RK International has supplied a JAINNHER JHC-18S NC1 centreless grinding machine to a leading European carbide tooling manufacturer. The project combines JAINNHER grinding technology with a bespoke UK-manufactured diamond grinding wheel from DK Holdings to create a complete solution for through-feed grinding of tungsten carbide blanks.
The JHC-18S NC1 has been configured with a 455 x 205mm grinding wheel and 255 x 205mm regulating wheel. Its NC-controlled X-axis provides programmable movement in increments down to 0.001mm, allowing the machine to compensate automatically for wheel wear and maintain consistent tolerances during longer production runs.
DK Holdings, based in Staplehurst, Kent, manufactured the specialist diamond wheel for the application. The company has produced precision diamond and CBN tooling since 1959 and supplies abrasive solutions for difficult materials including tungsten carbide, ceramics and hardened steels.
Combining a rigid centreless grinding platform with a purpose-designed diamond wheel provides several production benefits. These include longer wheel life, consistent dimensional accuracy, improved surface finish, reduced secondary finishing and faster through-feed processing. Automatic component loading and unloading can further improve productivity by reducing manual handling.
The project also demonstrates the value of bringing machine tool and abrasive specialists together at the specification stage. By matching the grinder, control system, wheel specification and component handling to the application, manufacturers can achieve a more efficient and repeatable carbide grinding process.
DK Holdings will be exhibiting at MACH 2026 from 20th to 24th April at the NEC Birmingham in Hall 17, Stand 541.
