Find The Needle Add My Company
A traditional Greek dessert: Thaktila (Ladies fingers) You can find the Almonds here LIST OF INGREDIENTS For the dough: 3 cups of flour 1 cup of water 1/2 cup of vegetable oil 1 tablespoon of salt For the syrup: 2 cups of water 1 cup of sugar 4-5 cloves 1/2 cup of honey 2-3 cinnamon sticks 2 teaspoons of squeezed lemon For the filling: A small bowl of crushed Cypressa almonds 2 tablespoons of cinnamon 2 tablespoons of rose water 3 tablespoons of sugar METHOD Place all the ingredients for the dough into a bowl and mix well. Put the dough to one side and cover. While the dough sets, you can begin to make the syrup. Add all the ingredients for the syrup into a pan until it's of thick consistency and leave to cool. Now you can begin to make the filling! Put all ingredients into a bowl and stir until everything is well mixed. Now for the fun part. Open out the dough until it is spread largely and thinly. Cut it into rectangular pieces - the size and length of these are down to preference. When all the dough is cut and ready, place the filling into the pieces and roll until the filling is covered. To create the traditional look and to seal both sides of the thaktila, use a fork to press down on either side. When all the thaktila are ready to be cooked, place them in a frying pan with vegetable oil. When they become a golden/brown colour, remove them from the frying pan. Put them into a pan of syrup for 2-3 minutes and stir. Place them into a nice serving plate, ready to be enjoyed!
