If You Use a Battery Operated Alarm ...please be aware that in cold conditions, all batteries operate less efficiently than in warm conditions, so if your battery is old or not fully charged your alarm may not work as well as normal (although Unlike a gas alarm it should still produce a loud sound when activated). It's worth remembering that good quality electronic personal alarms are manufactured from quality components, whereas cheap copies typically use inferior components and circuitry, which can lead to rapid draining and premature failure of the battery ...even if the alarm's siren is never activated. ...so whatever type of personal alarm you carry, please don't trust to luck, just like you would a smoke detector, etc. regulary check that it is working properly.
