We are delighted to announce that the widely praised Insight Security BigBoy3 Telescopic Ground Anchor has successfully achieved Sold Secure Powered Cycle Diamond recertification.
Formerly known as the Sold Secure Motorcycle Diamond rating, Powered Cycle Diamond is the highest Sold Secure grading for this category. The latest successful recertification provides continued independent verification of the BigBoy3`s exceptional resistance to attack and its suitability for securing high-value motorcycles and other valuable equipment.
The BigBoy3 is designed and manufactured by Insight Security and has evolved from our original Big Boy ground anchor, which first achieved Sold Secure certification back in 2020. We subsequently achieved annual recertification and have continued to invest in the product and its independent testing.
This latest certification is another important milestone for a ground anchor that has become a popular choice for motorcyclists, homeowners, businesses and organisations looking for exceptionally robust, permanent anchorage without the inconvenience of a conventional protruding ground anchor.
Why is Sold Secure recertification important?
When buying a security product, it can be difficult to judge how effective it really is simply by looking at it or reading the manufacturer’s description. A ground anchor may look extremely strong, but how does it perform when subjected to the types of sustained physical attack that a determined thief might use?
This is where independent certification becomes particularly valuable.

What does Sold Secure testing involve?

Sold Secure explains that its standards are developed with input from relevant stakeholders and are designed to give consumers a meaningful indication of how a security product performs.
The precise details of individual tests are not publicly disclosed, understandably, as publishing a complete attack methodology would potentially provide useful information to criminals.
However, the testing of high-security ground anchors involves subjecting products to serious physical attack. Previous testing of the Big Boy range has included aggressive attacks using tools such as sledgehammers, pry bars and powerful angle grinders.

What does Powered Cycle Diamond actually mean?
Sold Secure uses a graded system to distinguish the level of security provided by tested products. For cycle security products, the ratings progress from Bronze through Silver and Gold to Diamond, with Diamond representing the highest level.
The terminology has changed in recent years, with the category previously known as Motorcycle now referred to as Powered Cycle. The Sold Secure listing for the BigBoy3 therefore describes its rating as:

The BigBoy3: Serious security without a permanent obstacle

Unlike many ground anchors that remain permanently above the surface, the BigBoy3 retracts into the ground when it is not being used.
