Federal Padlocks are designed and manufactured in Taiwan by Federal Lock. The company, established over 60 years ago, is widely recognised as a trusted manufacturer of high quality security products.
The Federal brand includes a wide range of padlocks and lock cylinders alongside door, window and furniture locks. These high quality products are manufactured by a skilled workforce of over 400 people and the company is dedicated to strict policies on environmental sustainability, employee welfare and community support.

Federal FD740 High Security CEN5 Padlock
The super-tough open-shackle Federal FD740 padlock is CEN5 rated and has achieved Sold Secure Gold rating from the Sold Secure labs. The ‘gold’ rating means the lock has successfully withstood attacks using a range of attack tools, commonly used by criminals.
The FD740 padlock features a six-pin, double stainless steel ball locking mechanism that’s highly resistant to pulling attacks. The brass, weather resistant, anti-bump, anti-drill, anti-pick lock cylinder is supplied with two keys and the locks are ‘key retaining’ and ‘deadlocking’ for high security, an essential feature for use in many high security applications. The lock also features an anti-drill sliding cover plate.
The 14mm diameter lock shackle is made from anti-cut molybdenum and the hardened steel lock body is e-coated for weather protection and long life. The 70mm wide lock body is plastic coated with a bumper-band to prevent damage to whatever is being locked up. The lock features a clever, patented shackle interchange design that enables the shackle to be swapped using simple tools, if required. High resistance to drilling, sawing, twisting and brute force attacks has enabled this outstanding padlock to gain both CEN5 and Sold Secure Gold ratings.
This padlock is available in open shackle (FD740) or closed shackle (FD740P) designs. Closed shackle padlocks are most useful in applications where maximum resistance to bolt cutters, saws, crowbars and other aggressive attack tools is essential.
Users of this popular high security padlock have praised the shackle clearance that provides enough space for two loops of a high security 16mm chain.
Federal FD730 High Security CEN4 Padlock
The Federal FD730 CEN4 rated high security padlock is a smaller version of the FD740. This robust padlock has achieved Sold Secure Silver rating which means its highly suitable for medium security applications.
Like the FD740, the FD730 has a hardened steel, e-coated body along with a mighty molybdenum shackle. But the body width is just 61mm and the shackle diameter is 11mm. The lock cylinder is the same six-pin, stainless steel ball locking mechanism, provided with two keys. The lock features an anti-drill sliding cover plate and the body is plastic coated with a surrounding bumper-band to protect whatever is being secured. The lock is designed to resist drilling, sawing, twisting and brute force attacks which is how it gained CEN4 and Sold Secure Silver assessments.
The FD730 is available in both open shackle (FD730) and closed shackle (FD730P) variants. While closed shackle padlocks provide the greatest resistance to attacks from cutting tools, pry bars and similar, open shackle padlocks can be more versatile, offering the ability to easily lock multiple chain loops and secure a wider variety of locking points.
Federal FD860 Stainless Steel Weatherproof Padlock
The Federal FD860 stainless steel weatherproof padlock is specifically designed to provide optimum security in arduous outdoor conditions. If you need a reliable padlock for a beach hut, boat trailer, shed door or any other outdoor application, the FD860 is the right choice.
This outstanding padlock features a stainless steel, 63mm wide lock body with a stainless steel lock shackle that’s 10.7mm in diameter. The body is wrapped in a blue plastic bumper-band to avoid causing damage to whatever is secured. The locking mechanism is a 6-pin brass tumbler system using double stainless steel ball locking for robust shackle security. The lock is designed to be resistant to bumping, picking and drilling.
Supplied with two keys as standard, this padlock is also available as keyed-alike, enabling multiple locks to all use the same key.
Federal FD900 CEN3 Padlock
The Federal FD900 padlock has achieved CEN3 rating along with Sold Secure bronze accreditation. The padlock features a hardened steel, e-coated body for reliable weather resistance. The 11mm diameter lock shackle is made from tough, cut-resistant molybdenum and offers a 25mm vertical clearance with 23mm horizontal clearance. The super-tough lock is designed to resist drilling, sawing, twisting and brute force attacks and an anti-drill sliding plate provides reliable drilling resistance.
The lock cylinder uses a double stainless steel ball locking, 6-pin mechanism that’s highly resistant to all forms of attack including picking and pulling. The lock is key-retaining and deadlocking for security and the keyway is protected by an anti drill plate. Key-retaining means the key is retained in the padlock when unlocked and can only be removed once the lock is secured. This complies with military requirements.
This versatile padlock is highly suitable for a wide range of security applications. The generous shackle clearance dimensions mean the lock can easily secure robust security chains and hasps.
Federal FD720 High Security Padlock
The Federal FD720 is an open shackle padlock with a 54mm wide solid steel body, e-coated for weather resistance and surrounded with a plastic bumper-band to protect whatever is being secured. The 6-pin locking mechanism uses stainless steel ball locking and comes with two keys. A sliding anti-drill cover plate provides reliable drilling resistance.
The open shackle is 9.5mm in diameter and made from hard molybdenum which easily resists drilling, sawing, twisting and brute force attacks. It offers a vertical shackle clearance of around 28mm and horizontal clearance of about 20mm. This padlock is a key retaining design which means that while unlocked the key is retained in the padlock. This complies with requirements for military applications.
This padlock is available as keyed-alike or master-keyed if required. Registered and restricted keyways are also available.
Federal FD710 High Security Padlock
The Federal FD710 padlock is available in both open and closed shackle (710p) variants. The compact body width is just 46mm and the molybdenum lock shackle is 8mm in diameter. This super tough padlock is designed to resist drilling sawing, twisting and brute force attacks with a sliding cover plate providing robust drilling resistance.
The open shackle version offers a vertical shackle clearance of around 27mm and horizontal clearance of about 20mm. While the closed shackle version offers a vertical clearance of 25mm with a horizontal clearance of 19mm.
Like other Federal padlocks, this lock uses a 6-pin brass cylinder and stainless steel ball locking mechanism that’s highly resistant to picking and other attack techniques. The key-retaining design makes the key non-removable while the lock is unlocked which ensures the lock is secured before the key can be removed, which complies with requirements for military use.
The black, hardened steel body is e-plated for weather protection and surrounded by a protective plastic bumper-band to prevent damage to whatever is being secured.
