A thermosetting adhesive changes when it is heated. It cures, becoming firmer and more heat resistant than it was when first applied.
For coil winders that's useful. The tape holds the winding in place, then cures during the varnish or oven cycle so it won't creep or lift when the component runs hot.
Yellow polyester thermosetting tapes are the common choice. Hadleigh stocks its own H133 and H134 grades alongside 3M 56, with widths cut to order.
