Class H is an insulation class rated for continuous operation at 180C. Class H glass cloth tapes typically use a silicone adhesive to cope with that.
It's aimed at equipment that runs hot all the time, such as high temperature motors, generators and heavy duty transformers. Short spikes above the rating are usually tolerated, but continuous use above it shortens insulation life.
Check the data sheet for the exact tape you use. Hadleigh stocks Class H options including Scapa 1504H and 3M 69.
