Gibbons Company Day
On Friday, 17th April, Gibbons Engineering Group held its first company day of the year, one of four dedicated days we run annually to bring the entire team together. These events are a key part of our culture, giving both our engineers and office staff the opportunity to step away from their day-to-day roles, reconnect as a team, and focus on the bigger picture.
A Morning of Insight and Collaboration
The day began with a series of informative sessions designed to keep everyone aligned, informed, and safe. As always, Health & Safety remained front and centre, with talks from our H&S advisors alongside practical toolbox talks. These sessions are vital in reinforcing best practices across all areas of the business.
We also held a company-wide update and Q&A session, providing a transparent overview of where we are as a business and where we’re heading. It’s an open forum that allows everyone to have their say, ask questions, and feel part of the company.
This session, we were pleased to welcome a guest speaker from AM Safety Specialists, who delivered an engaging and thought-provoking talk. Topics included the importance of reporting near misses, managing the challenges of night shifts, and maintaining strong health and wellbeing, both physically and mentally. The session also introduced the concept of DNEAR in the workplace, prompting valuable discussion among the team.

Time to Connect
Lunch was provided for all staff, offering a relaxed opportunity for colleagues to catch up and connect. With teams often working across different sites and locations, these moments are incredibly valuable in strengthening relationships and building a stronger sense of unity across the business.
From Workshop to Racetrack
After a productive day, the team swapped tools for helmets and headed to TeamSport Indoor Go Karting Basildon for an evening of competitive fun.
The gloves were well and truly off as the team hit the track, pushing their racing skills to the limit in pursuit of a podium finish. It was a closely fought contest, but in the end, electrical engineer Dan Locke took the top spot. Senior team members Mart Curran and Richard Mooney followed in second and third place respectively.
Dan proved to be something of a dark horse, though it quickly became clear that his performance was no fluke, with regular experience on the track giving him a competitive edge!
A Well-Earned Finish
To round off a fantastic day, the team headed to TGI Fridays Basildon for a well-earned meal and a few drinks. It was the perfect way to unwind, reflect on the day, and celebrate as a team.
Investing in Our People
At Gibbons Engineering Group, we place real value on our people. Days like this are about building a culture where everyone feels valued, supported, and part of something bigger. By combining professional development with genuine team-building experiences, we continue to invest in what matters most: our team.
We’re already looking forward to the next one.
