Lock Out!

Lock Out!
AUTOPA Hinged Parking Posts are designed to last for many years with minimal upkeep. Occasionally the integrated lock on a post will need maintenance, or even replacing; something which can sound daunting at first, but is easier than you might think! To remove the stress from this process for you, we have developed a straightforward five step guide to changing a lock… 1) Firstly, remove the plastic cap. There is a small dome on the outside of the cap; this is the rivet that holds the cap in place. Drill this rivet out to loosen the cap and gently tap the underside of the cap with a hammer to fully remove it. 2) Once the cap has been removed you should be able to clearly see the post’s lock. Remember: Note the position of the Striker Arm before continuing. 3) Remove the Nut and Locking Washer and carefully remove the Horseshoe Spring (keep this safe, it is vital for holding the lock in place). The lock can now be removed from the post. 4) To fit a new lock, simply reverse this process. Make sure that the Striker Arm of the new lock is in the same place as the old one. 5) The plastic cap needs tapping back on with a hammer. It will be tight enough to stay in place on its own, but for extra security you can reattach the rivet with strong glue, or re-rivet using a pop-riveter.
