"The London Eye is the most popular paid tourist attraction in the UK with more than 3.5 million visitors per year. Its innovative passenger capsules are unlike those of any other observation or “Ferris” wheel. Instead of hanging from the wheel, which results in a blocked view for passengers, the capsules are attached to the outside of the wheel and electric motors turn the capsules at the same rotational speed as the main wheel. The result is a stunning view of London for 25 passengers in each capsule. TRB Solution •TRB Lightweight Structures assisted UK Loco in the design for the capsule floor ensuring it would meet the required FEA analysis requirements. •TRB Lightweight Structures produced the floor from aluminium honeycomb sandwich panels resulting in a lightweight, durable structure with reduced maintenance for years to come. The London Eye has 32 capsules, representing each of the boroughs of London. Each capsule has a 360 degree view of London, and passenger’s can see up to 40 kilometres in all directions. "
