An Electrostatic Precipitator is an extremely energy efficient abatement solution for oily smoke fumes using only 30 watts/1000m3/hour, compared to an incinerator at 3KW/1000m3/hr. The oily smoke fumes came from textile Stenters operating at 150 degrees, ESP’s have an operating temperature of 40/50 degrees and hence the opportunity for heat recovery occurred. The hot water generated was used in the dye house thus reducing the boiler house steam load and giving a useful return on investment.
