Solway Precast Products Ltd is a leading UK manufacturer of precast concrete, based at a 7 acre production facility in Braehead, Barrhill, near Girvan in Ayrshire. The site gives good access to the A75 and A77, supporting deliveries across Scotland and further afield. A team of around 45 people works across production, design and delivery to keep projects moving from initial drawing to finished unit.

Solway supplies precast concrete across a wide range of sectors, including industrial, civil engineering, agricultural and waste management projects. The company has particular strength in rail and harbour work, producing items such as railway bridge cill and riser units, tunnel roof segments, and components for flood defences, culverts and retaining walls. On the industrial side, the range covers structural elements, lift shafts, crash barriers and stadia components including terracing, stairs and wall units.

For agricultural customers, Solway manufactures products built for the practical demands of modern farming, from livestock housing and feeding systems through to slurry storage and handling. Waste management customers are supported with leachate storage, containment walls and site organisation solutions, engineered for strength and ease of use.

Every product is designed and manufactured to meet the BSEN ISO 9001-2015 standard, whether it is a standard unit from the existing range or a bespoke item built from customer drawings. An in-house joinery mould manufacturing workshop supports the production team, allowing Solway to move from concept to bespoke mould with minimal delay.

The business has also taken steps to reduce its environmental impact, including the introduction of electric minibuses to transport staff between sites, cutting daily mileage and emissions from what would otherwise be car journeys.
