316 Stainless Steel Bearings

316 “marine” grade stainless steel ball bearings can be supplied with PE (polyethylene) or PEEK cages. They are available open or with PE or PEEK low friction seals and are highly resistant to seawater, salt spray and many chemicals. 316 stainless steel bearings are suitable for temperatures up to approximately 500°C if full complement or 260°C with a PEEK cage. They can also be used for cryogenic applications down to minus 200°C depending on cage material. As the steel cannot be hardened by heat treatment, 316 stainless steel bearings are only suitable for much lower loads and speeds than the 440 grade bearings. These bearings are suitable for use in the food or beverage industry and can be re-lubricated with food grade lubricants.
