Zinc plating is used to protect and improve the appearance of ferrous metals (iron and steel), creating a corrosion barrier and a sacrificial coating. We can apply chromate conversion coatings over zinc plating as well as post-plate sealers. These give extra protection against corrosion, specially useful in conditions of high moisture or humidity.
Zinc plating features:
Relatively cheap coating method
Prevents oxidation by forming a barrier and acting as a sacrificial anode if the barrier is damaged
Decorative if used with chromate conversions – gold, clear or black finish
Good base coat for paint on ferrous metal
Maximum Part Size: 800 x 490 x 490
Zinc plating standards available:
Def Stan 03-20
BS EN 12329:2000
ASTM B633 – 13
BS 6338:1982 / ISO 4520:1981
