Stainless Steel Passivation
The Stainless Steel Passivation process is performed to make a stainless steel surface passive, in order to increase corrosion resistance. Stainless Steel Passivation is done by removing exogenous iron or iron ore compounds from the surface. We carry out Stainless Steel Passivation when free iron, rust, iron particles, metal chips or other non-volatile deposits might have an adverse effect on the metal or the way it’s affected by a process. It removes the risk of galvanic corrosion, when stainless steel comes into contact with less noble metals, such as aluminium. First, we clean the surface with solvents or an alkaline solution to remove residues. Then we dip the component in an acid passivation solution.
