Emergency make safe works to fractured overhead double glazed unit. Our client contacted Glazing Refurbishment requiring make-safe works to one overhead glass unit at their Manchester city centre office location. Due to the sites location and difficult access, our IRATA trained Rope Access team conducted the make-safe works. The team started with the safe removal of the existing shattered outer pane for off-site disposal. Once the existing shattered pane was removed and the cleaning out of the glazing rebate, the team then installed a clear polycarbonate panel to the outer face of the unit to create a temporary weather proofed system. The GR procurement team will now source the correct glass specification to replace the polycarbonate panel. Once sourced our team will revisit site, remove the temporary weather proofed system and install the new glazed unit.
