major glazing refurbishment works continue
Works have been continuing on a major glazing refurbishment project for our client located in central London. The first stage, which we reported on last month, involved the removal of the defected glass from one of the building’s face whilst ensuring minimal disruption to both the streets below and the office workers. To guarantee this happened, we utilised our extensive team of highly trained IRATA Abseil technicians who were able to abseil down the building envelope to the defected glass units and remove them with the help of internal glazing operatives. This method of working resulted in the unnecessary requirement for scaffolding to be erected. Stage two is bigger glass replacements. Due to the size of the units, a mobile crane was required to complete the works. Our latest site pictures depict the crane set up with inline sucker attached. Method of working; crane moves it’s head into position and the external abseil team guide it into position whilst the internal team assist. The Sucker then attaches to the glazed unit requiring removal. The Unit is removed and taken to ground level where it can be unattached and disposed of safely. The new unit is then attached to the sucker and the crane moves the unit into the open aperture. The IRATA trained abseil team help position the unit into the open aperture and the internal glazing team guide it in. Once the new unit is in position, the unit is fitted and then the team move onto the next unit which requires placement. After all repair works were completed, the GR team commenced with a full clean down and hand over to a happy client until we remobilise for the final stage of the repair works.
