As electric and hybrid vehicle powertrains continue to evolve, DC-link capacitors have become one of the most critical components within inverter and controller electronics. Optimised busbar design and ultra-low ESL

Integrated busbars can be designed to suit the exact current path requirements of the application, with insulated busbars available in a range of colours for phase identification and assembly simplification.

 

By optimising the capacitor geometry and busbar layout, single-digit nanohenry ESL values can be achieved, helping to reduce voltage overshoot, switching losses, EMI and stress on SiC and IGBT power semiconductors.

 

Full electrical modelling can be provided, including expected stray inductance and high-frequency performance analysis.

 

Thermal management integration

Custom designs can incorporate integrated heatplates, thermal interface materials, gap pads and dedicated cooling surfaces that allow direct thermal coupling into the customer’s cooling system.

 

Thermal performance can be fully modelled during the design phase, enabling optimisation of capacitor temperature rise, power dissipation and expected operating life under real application conditions.

 

Automotive and aerospace-grade reliability

With AEC-Q200 qualification, custom DC-link capacitors provide the reliability, low inductance and mechanical integration required for next-generation automotive and electric aerospace power electronics.
