Compressed Gases Safety Training is a CSS Worksafe training course developed to improve knowledge, competence and safer working practices.
Aims & Objectives: This training ensures your organisation complies with its obligation to train all staff exposed to risk. On completion, attendees will be able to use compressed gas equipment safely and will understand the specific hazards associated with gases such as nitrogen, CO2, hydrogen and argon - resulting in a more assured workforce and a safer workplace.
Suitability: All those working with any compressed gas and associated equipment commonly used in applications such as calibration, packaging, production and analysis.
Requirements: No prior knowledge required.
Syllabus: Introduction & Legislation. Introduction, aims and objectives. Your organisation's duty to train all staff exposed to risk from compressed gases. An overview of the relevant legislation and guidance. Understanding the Hazards. The specific hazards associated with compressed gases, including nitrogen, CO2, hydrogen and argon. The risks of asphyxiation, fire, high pressure and gas escape. How different gas types (inert, flammable, oxidising) behave and why it matters. Safe Use & Handling.
The safe use of compressed gas equipment. Correct handling of cylinders and bottled gases. Safe practice in calibration, packaging, production and analysis applications. Storage & Transportation. The safe storage of compressed gas cylinders. The safe transportation and movement of cylinders on site. Closing. Review and question time. Notes. Comprehensive notes will be given to all students who attend the course.
Certification: On completion of training delegates will be issued with a certificate of attendance, which will be valid for three years.
