Our team in Beccles have worked together with our Berry Global colleagues to produce a PE (Polyethylene) tube and closure combination, making the full product recyclable in one easy step. Commonly closures have been made of Polypropylene and the bodies of Polyethylene. With all elements of the tube and cap being made from one polymer – PE, the potential issue of having to separate the closure is avoided, allowing the entire product to be recycled as one and converted into new products. Andrew Thomas who has been instrumental in the development of this tube said ‘As a global manufacturer of tubes, reducing the number of tubes that go to landfill was something that I was understandably keen to develop. I believe, teaming with Berry Bramlage to provide our clients with single material tubes and caps that can be recycled in the same stream was a great partnership to meet this aspiration.’ Monomaterial samples are readily available in 50mm diameter tubes.
