Compressed air isn’t all we do, as a recent project for orthotics manufacturer Blatchford demonstrates THE CLIENT Blatchford is a multi-award winning manufacturer of some of the world’s most advanced prosthetic technology, bespoke seating solutions and orthotic devices. For more than one hundred years, the company has been making mobility possible for generations of people. At its orthotics manufacturing hub in Sheffield, the company manufactures devices that support the musculoskeletal system. We were asked to update and upgrade its Cameo Shoe Department. THE CHALLENGE It wasn’t just that the workshop needed updating. New staff had joined the business and needed stations to work from. And, as with so many businesses, Covid had demanded a change in working arrangements. So in addition to the upgrade, Blatchford asked us to install a number of new and socially distanced work benches. OUR RESPONSE Beyond our air compressor support, we’ve been Blatchford’s trusted team of general maintenance engineers for many years and have completed lots of projects for the company that have involved electrical engineering, fabrication and more. In this instance, we manufactured and installed seven new workbenches, ensuring each had its own power supply, and that we used the space in as efficient yet Covid-safe a way as possible. We also sourced, supplied and fitted new lights for each workstation. The result is an entirely modernised space, ready to help Blatchford’s team be even more productive in their efforts to help more people enjoy mobility.
