Winzer to Merge with Sister Company
08-06-2009
Today it is announced that two UK companies operating as part of the Würth Group,
namely Winzer Würth Industrial Ltd and Würth UK Ltd, will merge into one single
company called Würth UK Ltd.
While Winzer Würth, acquired in 1986, had focused on customers from the wood,
construction and metalworking trades, Würth UK, a company founded by the Würth
Group in 1973, had specialised in the automotive after-sales market. With a view to
joining forces to the benefit of all of Würths customers and pursuant to the Würth
Groups philosophy of operating as multi-channel and multi-divisional organisations,
the two subsidiaries will merge to form a company under the name of Würth UK Ltd.
This company will be based in Erith, Kent, the current head office of Würth UK Ltd,
with a total staff of about 700 employees. In the long term, this merger is intended to
constitute an important step towards a more aggressive market strategy and a
doubling of sales, the aim being to improve market penetration and to position the
new Würth company as one of the largest sales forces in the UK market.
In a joint statement released today, Wayne Moss, Managing Director of Würth UK,
and Gary Thompson, Managing Director of Winzer Würth, said: “This change is
designed with the customer in mind and we believe there will be numerous benefits,
with one single strengthened Würth company aiming to significantly boost its presence
within the UK marketplace”.
The main route to market for Würth globally is via sales consultants and the new
company will employ a field sales force in excess of 550 consultants and managers.
They will provide more than 5,000 customer contacts a day and offer a product range
of over 12,000 high-quality items from stock in the Erith warehouse, with further
access to another 100,000 products from the Würth Groups range. Combined with
their vast sales force, Würth also have a network of trade outlets throughout the UK
which provide direct customer access to the product range.
The transfer from the Winzer Würth offices and warehouse in Godalming to the new
enlarged company in Erith will be completed in stages over the next 12 months, with a
priority on ensuring that high levels of customer service are maintained.
Würth are convinced that this merger is an investment for the future. This is targeted at
generating an increased market presence and visibility, from greater numbers of
customer contacts through a multi-channel approach.
