Established in 1986, WMH Transmissions Limited has grown into the largest stockist of HIWIN linear products in the UK. What began as a supplier of precision rack and pinions, sourced from German manufacturer WMH Herion Antriebstechnik, has expanded over more than three decades into a full mechanical power transmission specialist serving the OEM and re-seller markets.

The product range now spans bevel gears and gearboxes, worms and wheels, splined shafts and sleeves, chains and sprockets, and screw jack systems, alongside precision trapezoidal leadscrews and nuts manufactured in-house at the company's own machine shop in Tamworth, Staffordshire.

Since taking on HIWIN linear motion products in 2000, and becoming the brand's main UK supplier in 2012, WMH has built out a comprehensive range covering linear guideways, ball screws, single axis KK units, bearing supports, linear actuators, ball bushes, and precision hardened and ground linear shafting. Licensed seller status also allows the company to supply products from Schaeffler-INA, Ewellix, Bosch Rexroth, NTN Linear, IKO Linear and NSK Seiki.

Growth led to a move in 2013 to a 40,000 sq ft facility just off Junction 10 of the M42, complete with a training room, showroom and space for regular open days and exhibitions with partners. An in-house design and calculation service, added in 2014, gives customers access to specification, selection and lifetime calculations on ball screws, linear guideways and rack and pinion systems, backed by specialised services including linear guide rail cutting and bespoke ball screw and rack and pinion manufacturing.

In 2020, WMH Transmissions merged with Descours & Cabaud (DEXIS), a major French-based distributor of industrial supplies across Europe and North America, and now also operates under the Hayley Group. The scale has changed considerably since 1986, but the priorities have not: outstanding customer service, competitive pricing and high-quality products.
