PACKAGING MICRO LEAK DETECTION EQUIPMENT
PACKAGING MICRO LEAK DETECTION EQUIPMENT ORDER FOR WITT GAS TECHNIQUES Witt Gas Techniques Ltd, the Warrington based gas safety, control, mixing and analysis equipment supplier has sold an automatic in-line LEAK-MASTER® MAPMAX micro-leak detection system to one of the UK’s leading bakeries. This leak detection system will be fitted to a new packaging line due for commissioning in November 2007, as part of a multi-million pound project to meet demand for the Company’s products. It will provide automatic quality control over the entire packaging line operating at up to 13 cycles per minute thereby not impeding on the speed of the line, testing 3 flow wrap packages at a time. The bakery has engineered their own in-feed and out-feed conveyors to be retro-fitted to the MAPMAX, so that they can automatically eject any leaking packages from the packaging line. The system is non-destructive using CO2 for leakage detection, so any products found in faulty packaging can be returned for re-packaging. It can test both complete cartons and individual packages. Carl Long, General Manager at Witt Gas Techniques said: “We have sold a number of these systems since it was introduced just over a year ago. Leaks in packaging can be very expensive for suppliers and we are finding that MAPMAX, which can be used for both rigid and flexible Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) is proving very successful in reducing returns from the supermarkets to the suppliers.”
