Some aluminium sheet products consist of a strong core aluminium alloy which is clad with a layer of high-silicon alloy that has a much lower melting point than the core. This can enable a complex shape, including a car radiator, to be fabricated then heated to a temperature which is sufficient to melt the cladding whilst also leaving the core intact.
