Measure the vertical height of the step first, then apply a gradient of around 1 in 6 to 1 in 8 for portable ramps.
For every inch of rise you will need roughly 6 to 8 inches of ramp length. The Ramp People's wheelchair ramp length calculator will do the sums for you if you would rather not measure it out by hand.
