Ultrasonic technology has certainly proved its worth in practice as an assembly process for technical thermoplastics. This process presents major advantages over conventional methods, especially in the production of serial parts: high stability, clean welds, short processing times, extremely low wastage, and low energy consumption. Apart from the main application, which is welding injection-moulded thermoplastic parts, this technology is also suitable for riveting, remodelling, beading, and imbedding metal parts in thermoplastic materials. Each ultrasonic welding unit consists of the following main components: pneumatic press, converter, booster, sonotrode, ultrasonic generator and controller unit.
