Brent Council
Secure cycle parking helping to keep the wheels turning for Brent Council’s flourishing community of cyclists. Brent Council has some of the safest streets in London and are committed to reducing the amount of carbon dioxide at street level, doing what they can to combat climate change, which means encouraging more staff to set an example and cycle to work. Brent Council wanted to provide staff with an additional safe and secure cycle store. So when Mike Evans “Googled” mesh cages, Storwell Systems were one of six companies that he contacted to draw up a specification for a galvanised 4-sided mesh cage and roof with a single access door that he would put out to tender. As Brent Council's acting officer for cycling, he is interested in everything from the site of new bike stands to liaising with residents and businesses about bicycles. "Cycling has doubled in London since 2000," Mike says. "It gets residents active and healthy; cuts congestion and traffic on the roads, and helps to make Brent cleaner and greener." Storwell Systems was judged to have the most cost effective and highest quality product and were awarded the contract. Mike reported that Council staff was delighted with the new bicycle parking facilities, safe in the knowledge that their bicycles were locked away and secure.
