2,000 Dental record trays fitted into the smallest of spaces. Following recent mobile storage installations at the Birmingham Dental Hospital and the South Tees NHS Foundation Trust, Storwell Systems were contacted by Malcolm Ing on behalf of the Friarage Hospital in North Allerton to provide a storage solution for the hospitals Orthodontic Dental Department. Storwell Systems had worked with Malcolm and the South Tees NHS Foundation Trust on other medical record storage projects and Malcolm was keen to work with Storwell Systems again on this project. The hospital’s Orthodontic Dental Department had a requirement to store over 1,500 patient dental casts in bespoke dental record box trays that needed to be installed into a very small room allocated to the department. As the dental record storage boxes were of a uniform size, Storwell Systems engineer’s were able to design a special narrow shelf to the exact measurement of the dental record box trays, which minimised wasted space and allowed for more bays to be fitted on to the mobile bases. The shelving was fitted to the Storwell Systems MaxStor mobile storage system and delivered a capacity of just over 2,000 patient dental records and casts.Whilst the size of the room made it a tight squeeze to install the system, it was delivered and installed on the same day. The orthodontics team were delighted with the result and were amazed that Storwell Systems could achieve the capacity they wanted in such a small space. Malcolm Ing.
