Stainless steel is an ideal material to use in shim manufacturing due to its strength and stability. It has a large amount of chromium within the material, which creates a protective layer that prevents surface corrosion and rusting. Due to these chromium properties, stainless steel does not stain or corrode as easily as standard steel. Shims can be made in over 150 different stainless steel shim grades which determine what the material can be used for. The durable properties make it a perfect, reliable material to use for shims, as it will also help avoid corrosion to the other components whilst staying strong itself. Our stainless steel shim packs are popular in grade 304, which is one of the most frequently used grades in the stainless steel family. Stainless steel shims grades 304 can be used in a wide range of applications where strong formability, resistance to oxidation and corrosion, and good toughness at cryogenic temperatures, are properties which are important. Grade 304 for steel shims also means the shim will be easy to clean, and fabricate if needed. Our stainless steel shim packs can be bought in canned rolls or flat packed, depending on what you prefer. Prices vary and are dependent on the stainless steel shim grade you require.
