Team Spooner complete the Sport Relief Challenge 2012
Energetic employees from Spooner Industries took part in the Sainsbury's Sport Relief Challenge on Sunday 25th March. Over one million people across the UK joined in with various sporting activities to raise awareness and money for Sport Relief. Team Spooner consisted of sixteen Spooner co-workers, two children and three ‘Spooner mascot’ dogs. Together they completed the one, three and six mile races in Millennium Square, Leeds City Centre. Sponsorship money is still coming in, but the original target of £1,000 has been more than doubled with the current total raised standing at £2,015. The dedicated members of the Spooner team age from 20 to 65 years old and include a variety of departments from accountants to welders with apprentices, engineers and directors taking part too. The fact that we have raised over £2,000 makes the aching limbs and pulled muscles seem worthwhile knowing our suffering is nothing in comparison to those whose lives will be improved by the money we’ve raised.” Team Spooner took part in the 10.30am Leeds Flagship Mile, West Yorkshire. They joined in to help people living unimaginably tough lives, both at home in the UK and across the world's poorest countries. At present the total raised by Sport Relief 2012 stands at £52,070,587.
