Data centres are facing a tough challenge – do more with less. For them transformation is not a choice any longer, it’s do or die, innovate or stagnate. Most of us by now have heard Google’s Eric Schmidt’s ‘5 exabytes’ quote, which is the amount of data produced from the dawn of civilisation to 2003, and which we now create every two days. It’s safe to say that data and IT are no longer business enablers, they are the business. The use of data has to impact positively on any company’s P&L.
